This is my girlfriend, Holly; the most beautiful girl in the world. This scan doesn't really do the real drawing proper justice and the drawing doesn't do the girl any justice... but I'm very happy with it.

Christian Bale Montage

This is another project for my course. Create a portrait of someone famous with a background relative to them.
For this project we had a multiple choice on what we'd do. We were told to only go for the famous portrait if we had a real knack for likenesses. I don't know if I quite nailed the likeness, but adapting real faces into comic book form is something I'd like to get good at.
I've at least gotten to know Mr. Bale's face a lot better. He has a very distinct nose and a mole next to his eyes. Pronounced cheek bones too.

Master Of The Moon

Album cover artwork I made for a school assignment. It's supposed to be the cover of a Dio album. I purposely chose an album I've never seen, so it wouldn't affect my ideas. I had a look at it after I finished; the real deal is way cooler.
I really enjoyed making this piece. Paintings not really my forte, but I'm pretty happy with the result.
I can say I'm well and truly sick of this piece, though. I think the problem was that I took a week long break from it and when it came to finish; I wasn't feeling the mojo.

My Artist Statement

My name is Robin Taylor, I’m a freelance Graphic Designer/Illustrator living and working in Melbourne with a focus on Comic Book art.

I was born in 1986 in the small country town of Seymour, Victoria, of the great nation of Australia. My parents were both teachers who greatly supported and encouraged my art.

Ever since I was eight years old, I’ve dreamed of becoming a great Illustrator. It’s my passion. I don’t care where I have to go or what I have to do to become a successful artist.

I’m greatly inspired by comic books and fantasy art. My first exposure to Spider-Man changed my life forever. I’m greatly inspired by artists like Todd McFarlane, J. Scott Campbell and Amanda Conner. My only hope is that I can some day compare to these idols.

My style consists of powerful bold lines and stark bright colour. My preferred mediums are pen and pencil, but I strive to diversify my skills and improve myself as an artist.

My greatest accomplishment in illustration came in March 2011 when an illustration of mine featured in a novel named Quest Of The Demon by M L Sawyer.

My ideal future involves me living and working in many different countries as a successful comic book artist… and I also plan to own a hoverboard.
